IPRB hosts two Illinois Basin Celebrations a year to recognize the efforts of Illinois Basin oil production and exploration industry professionals. The respective events are held at the 404 Seed Station in Carmi and the Illinois Oilfield Museum in Oblong. The events feature complimentary Illinois Basin Proud gear (T-shirts, hoodies, stocking caps, ball caps, stickers and flags), a complimentary catered lunch and a lunch presentation by a guest speaker. More than 400 Illinois Basin industry professionals attended the Carmi and Oblong events in 2025. These events also feature presentations to students from local schools covering: oil industry career opportunities, Illinois oil production history, the importance of oil and gas to everyday life and our local economy, and the process of finding and producing crude oil in the Illinois Basin.
